The Big Garden Bird Watch 2025
The children have enjoyed taking part in the ‘Big Garden Bird Watch’. At group time we discussed different types of garden birds such as a wood pigeon, a magpie and a starling. We talked about their natural habitat, listened to the sounds they make, what they look like and what makes them different to other types of birds. Activities the children enjoyed were creating bird feeders using pipe cleaners and multigrain hoops, bird watching both indoors and outdoors using a tick sheet to tick of the birds that they found and homemade binoculars, using their creative skills to draws birds and also a sensory tray filled with straw, natural resources and feathers to assemble their own birds nest.
