Our January topic is Occupations

Our topic of the month is Occupations. This morning the children have enjoyed pretending to be builders wearing hi-vis jackets and builders hats. We made cement using sand and shaving foam all having a go at mixing these two materials together. I provided the children with small wooded bricks of different shapes and sizes and showed the children how to use the cement to construct their buildings. We talked about shapes and constructed with an idea in mind. Some of the children told me that their dads and grandads were builders. Meanwhile another group of children explored the tool box and used the wooden house to have a go at using the tools. Everybody had lots of fun exploring different ways to play and learn using various resources.
